Welcome back to the channel!
In today's video, we're going to show you some neat tricks that you can do with NFC and NFC tasks on your phone. If you don't know what NFC stands for, it stands for near field communication and it's a wireless technology that allows phones to communicate with other devices or tags in close proximity.
Sharing Data and Connecting to Devices
One of the most common uses for NFC is to quickly share data or connect to a device. For example, you can use NFC to pair your phone with a Bluetooth speaker or even transfer files between two devices.
Automating Tasks on Your Phone
But did you know that you can also use NFC to automate tasks on your phone? There are many apps available that allow you to create NFC tasks or actions which are triggered when you tap your phone against an NFC tag.
On Android, you have NFC Tasks app and Tasker, both of which can be found on the Play Store. For iPhone, there's an app called Launch Center Pro which serves the same purpose.
With NFC automation, the possibilities are endless. You can set up a tag at home that, when scanned, will put your phone onto vibrate, connect to your home Wi-Fi, and open up your home automation app to automatically turn the lights on. You can also set up a tag in your car that, when scanned, sets your destination, turns your music app on, and sends a message to your family to let them know you're on the way home.
These tasks can save you a lot of time by automating repetitive actions. For example, you can set a timer for your parking spot so that you don't have to remember to start one every time you park. You can also keep track of how much water you drink by tapping a tag on your water bottle to add the exact amount to your health app.
If you're a digital nomad who works from cafes, you can put a tag on your laptop that, when tapped, will turn your mobile hotspot on and off. And if you have trouble remembering to refill things, you can add a tag to items like water containers or medication bottles to remind you when to reorder.
Another useful application is for gated estates. Instead of having to call the gate to open, you can add the phone number to a tag and tap your phone against it in the car. The phone will automatically dial the gate, making it convenient and hassle-free.
Get Started with NFC
As you can see, NFC technology can greatly simplify your day-to-day life. These tags are not very expensive, so they are accessible to everyone. If you haven't already tried NFC, I highly recommend it.
